About Adeyemi DIPEOLU

Dr. Dipeolu is an Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela School of the University of Cape Town, a Fellow of the Development Leadership Dialogue Institute of SOAS, University of London, and a Member of the AfCFTA Trade and Industrial Policy Advisory Council.

He is also a Faculty Member of the AfDB PFMA/MEMA Policy Lab Unit and Member of the Scientific Committee of the African Programme for Rethinking Development Economics, Until May 2023, Dr. Dipeolu served as Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters in Nigeria where he led work on fiscal policy reforms, trade and industrial policy, development planning and innovation and digital economy.

He earlier worked at the Economic Commission for Africa serving as Coordinator of the Africa Trade Policy Centre, Chief of Staff and Director of the Capacity Development Division respectively. While there, he led work on Transformative Industrial Policy, Conflict and Development and Illicit Financial Flows from Africa.

Before joining ECA, Dr. Dipeolu was in the Nigerian Foreign Service where he rose to the rank of Ambassador serving in Caracas, Addis Ababa, Pretoria and Geneva respectively and during which he was deployed as Special Assistant, Economic Coordination and Policy in the Presidency from 1999 to 2003. He studied at the Universities of Ife, Oxford, Cambridge and South
Africa.
